1022 Gallery is pleased to present a collection of evocative abstract paintings and sound art by acclaimed Norwegian artist Tore Wallin. The exhibition opens May 5th and runs through June 2nd, 2012. For over 35 years Tore Wallin has been instrumental in the contemporary art scene of New Orleans. His prolific career as an artist and architect includes architectural sculptures, graphic and advertising design, and music.
For these new works, Wallin explores universal human emotions and the unfolding of consciousness. Using the inner language of subjective thoughts and collective memories, his paintings function more like memories or internal sensations rather than impressions of places and events. The viewer is allowed to experience the work directly, and in their own personal way, while a constantly shifting sound field permeates the space.

VANISHING ACTS

1022 Gallery is pleased to present Vanishing Acts, a group show consisting of new oil paintings and multi-media works by Dana Beuhler, Caroline Thomas, and Alexandra Adduci.
This is the first group gallery showing of these three passionate and dedicated artists, whose shared creative philosophies and love for the tradition of fine art has inspired Vanishing Acts. Individually and collectively, the artists will present paintings and multimedia works that reflect the beauty of the unseen self through form, color, and the symbolic language of dreams.
Visit the gallery's website to see the exhibition online.

Harriet Blum Hand Tinted Photography

Harriet Blum has been hand creating fine art photographs for 35 years. Most of her work begins with B&W 35mm infrared film, which she develops and prints in her darkroom. Original prints are made on double weight fiber-based paper, then sepia toned and tinted using transparent oils that are applied with cotton balls and Q-tips. Originals as well as signed and numbered giclee prints on paper or canvas, are available in a variety of sizes. Her photographs of Louisiana nature are often described as "ethereal" and "dreamy." Contact the gallery for more information.
